Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has revealed an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Disclosed
According to the official statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The plot presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana together with several items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
